- Export UpdateOutgoingFiles on taildrop.Extension so it can be called
from outside the package (wasm bridge, package main).
- Wrap sendFile's PUT body with progresstracking.NewReader so bytes-sent
is sampled roughly once per second during transfer.
- Create an OutgoingFile entry (with UUID, peer ID, name, declared size)
before the PUT and call UpdateOutgoingFiles on each progress tick and
on completion (setting Finished/Succeeded). This flows into the IPN
notify stream as OutgoingFiles notifications.
- Add jsOutgoingFile struct and wire n.OutgoingFiles into a new
notifyOutgoingFiles callback in run(), mirroring notifyIncomingFiles.

Move the ipn/desktop blank import from cmd/tailscaled/tailscaled_windows.go
into feature/condregister/maybe_desktop_sessions.go, consistent with how
all other modular features are registered. tailscaled already imports
feature/condregister, so it still gets ipn/desktop on Windows.

Add a new "ipnbus" build feature tag so the watch-ipn-bus LocalAPI
endpoint can be independently controlled, rather than being gated
behind HasDebug || HasServe. Minimal/embedded builds that omit both
debug and serve were getting 404s on watch-ipn-bus, breaking
"tailscale up --authkey=..." and other CLI flows that depend on
WatchIPNBus.
In the CLI, check buildfeatures.HasIPNBus before attempting to watch
the IPN bus in "tailscale up"/"tailscale login", and exit early with
an informational message when the feature is omitted.
Also add the missing NewCounterFunc stub to clientmetric/omit.go,
which caused compilation errors when building with
ts_omit_clientmetrics and netstack enabled.

Add a new vet analyzer that checks t.Run subtest names don't contain
characters requiring quoting when re-running via "go test -run". This
enforces the style guide rule: don't use spaces or punctuation in
subtest names.
The analyzer flags:
- Direct t.Run calls with string literal names containing spaces,
regex metacharacters, quotes, or other problematic characters
- Table-driven t.Run(tt.name, ...) calls where tt ranges over a
slice/map literal with bad name field values
Also fix all 978 existing violations across 81 test files, replacing
spaces with hyphens and shortening long sentence-like names to concise
hyphenated forms.

Install the previously uninstalled hooks for the filter and tstun
intercepts. Move the DNS manager hook installation into Init() with all
the others. Protect all implementations with a short-circuit if the node
is not configured to use Connectors 2025. The short-circuit pattern
replaces the previous pattern used in managing the DNS manager hook, of
setting it to nil in response to CapMap changes.

The client needs to know the set of transit IPs that are assigned
to each connector, so when we register transit IPs with the connector
we also need to assign them to that connector in the addrAssignments.
We identify the connector by node public key to match the peer information
that is available when the ExtraWireguardAllowedIPs hook will be invoked.

conn25 needs to add routes to the operating system to direct handling
of the addresses in the magic IP range to the tailscale0 TUN and
tailscaled.
The way we do this for exit nodes and VIP services is that we add routes
to the Routes field of router.Config, and then the config is passed to
the WireGuard engine Reconfig.
conn25 is implemented as an ipnext.Extension and so this commit adds a
hook to ipnext.Hooks to allow any extension to provide routes to the
config. The hook if provided is called in routerConfigLocked, similarly
to exit nodes and VIP services.

When the client of a connector assigns transit IP addresses for a
connector we need to let wireguard know that packets for the transit IPs
should be sent to the connector node. We do this by:
* keeping a map of node -> transit IPs we've assigned for it
* setting a callback hook within wireguard reconfig to ask us for these
extra allowed IPs.
* forcing wireguard to do a reconfig after we have assigned new transit
IPs.
And this commit is the last part: forcing the wireguard reconfig after a
new address assignment.

By polling RTM_GETSTATS via netlink. RTM_GETSTATS is a relatively
efficient and targeted (single device) polling method available since
Linux v4.7.
The tundevstats "feature" can be extended to other platforms in the
future, and it's trivial to add new rtnl_link_stats64 counters on
Linux.

Introduce a datapathHandler that implements hooks that will
receive packets from the tstun.Wrapper. This commit does not wire
those up just yet.
Perform DNAT from Magic IP to Transit IP on outbound flows on clients,
and reverse SNAT in the reverse direction.
Perform DNAT from Transit IP to final destination IP on outbound flows
on connectors, and reverse SNAT in the reverse direction.
Introduce FlowTable to cache validated flows by 5-tuple for fast lookups
after the first packet.
Flow expiration is not covered, and is intended as future work before
the feature is officially released.

When we are mapping a dns response, if it is a connector domain, change
the source IP addresses for our magic IP addresses. This will allow the
tailscaled to DNAT the traffic for the domain to the connector.

Changed the mapping to store the transit IPs to be indexed by
peer IP rather than NodeID because the data path only has access
to the peer's IP. This change means that IPv4 transit IPs need to
be indexed by the peer's IPv4 address, and IPv6 transit IPs need to
be indexed by the peer's IPv6 address. It is an error if the peer
does not have an address of the same family as the transit IP.
It is also an error if the transit and destination IP families do
not match.
Added a check to ensure that the TransitIPRequest.App matches a
configured app on the connector.
Added additional TransitIPResponse codes to identify the new errors
and change the exsting use of the Other code to use it's own
specific code.
Added logging for the error cases, since they generally indicate that
a peer has constructed a bad request or that there is a config
mismatch between the peer and the local netmap.
Added a test framework for handleConnectorTransitIPRequest and moved
the existing tests into the framework and added new tests.

It also paves the wave for tsnet apps to opt-in to SSH support via a

After we intercept a DNS response and assign magic and transit addresses
we must communicate the assignment to our connector so that it can
direct traffic when it arrives.
Use the recently added peerapi endpoint to send the addresses.

This change reintroduces UserProfile.Groups, a slice that contains
the ACL-defined and synced groups that a user is a member of.
The slice will only be non-nil for clients with the node attribute
see-groups, and will only contain groups that the client is allowed
to see as per the app payload of the see-groups node attribute.
For example:

The new version of app connector (conn25) needs to read DNS responses
for domains it is interested in and store and swap out IP addresses.
Add a hook to dns manager to enable this.
Give the conn25 updated netmaps so that it knows when to assign
connecting addresses and from what pool.
Assign an address when we see a DNS response for a domain we are
interested in, but don't do anything with the address yet.

This allows fetching auth keys, OAuth client secrets, and ID tokens (for
workload identity federation) from AWS Parameter Store by passing an ARN
as the value. This is a relatively low-overhead mechanism for fetching
these values from an external secret store without needing to run a
secret service.
Usage examples:

the history of Tailscale's open source releases.
A Brief History of AUTHORS files
---
The AUTHORS file was a pattern developed at Google, originally for
Chromium, then adopted by Go and a bunch of other projects. The problem
was that Chromium originally had a copyright line only recognizing
Google as the copyright holder. Because Google (and most open source
projects) do not require copyright assignemnt for contributions, each
contributor maintains their copyright. Some large corporate contributors
then tried to add their own name to the copyright line in the LICENSE
file or in file headers. This quickly becomes unwieldy, and puts a
tremendous burden on anyone building on top of Chromium, since the
license requires that they keep all copyright lines intact.
The compromise was to create an AUTHORS file that would list all of the
copyright holders. The LICENSE file and source file headers would then
include that list by reference, listing the copyright holder as "The
Chromium Authors".
This also become cumbersome to simply keep the file up to date with a
high rate of new contributors. Plus it's not always obvious who the
copyright holder is. Sometimes it is the individual making the
contribution, but many times it may be their employer. There is no way
for the proejct maintainer to know.
Eventually, Google changed their policy to no longer recommend trying to
keep the AUTHORS file up to date proactively, and instead to only add to
it when requested: https://opensource.google/docs/releasing/authors.
They are also clear that:
> Adding contributors to the AUTHORS file is entirely within the
> project's discretion and has no implications for copyright ownership.
It was primarily added to appease a small number of large contributors
that insisted that they be recognized as copyright holders (which was
entirely their right to do). But it's not truly necessary, and not even
the most accurate way of identifying contributors and/or copyright
holders.
In practice, we've never added anyone to our AUTHORS file. It only lists
Tailscale, so it's not really serving any purpose. It also causes
confusion because Tailscalars put the "Tailscale Inc & AUTHORS" header
in other open source repos which don't actually have an AUTHORS file, so
it's ambiguous what that means.
Instead, we just acknowledge that the contributors to Tailscale (whoever
they are) are copyright holders for their individual contributions. We
also have the benefit of using the DCO (developercertificate.org) which
provides some additional certification of their right to make the
contribution.
The source file changes were purely mechanical with:

QR codes are used by `tailscale up --qr` to provide an easy way to
open a web-page without transcribing a difficult URI. However, there’s
no need for this feature if the client will never be called
interactively. So this PR adds the `ts_omit_qrcodes` build tag.

In preparation for exposing its configuration via ipn.ConfigVAlpha,
change {Masked}Prefs.RelayServerPort from *int to *uint16. This takes a
defensive stance against invalid inputs at JSON decode time.
'tailscale set --relay-server-port' is currently the only input to this
pref, and has always sanitized input to fit within a uint16.

And fix up the TestAutoUpdateDefaults integration tests as they
weren't testing reality: the DefaultAutoUpdate is supposed to only be
relevant on the first MapResponse in the stream, but the tests weren't
testing that. They were instead injecting a 2nd+ MapResponse.
This changes the test control server to add a hook to modify the first
map response, and then makes the test control when the node goes up
and down to make new map responses.
Also, the test now runs on macOS where the auto-update feature being
disabled would've previously t.Skipped the whole test.

DA protection is not super helpful because we don't set an authorization
password on the key. But if authorization fails for other reasons (like
TPM being reset), we will eventually cause DA lockout with tailscaled
trying to load the key. DA lockout then leads to (1) issues for other
processes using the TPM and (2) the underlying authorization error being
masked in logs.
